TRAVELLING TO FIESOLE (FLORENCE)

BY AIR

Florence has a small airport, the Amerigo Vespucci Airport (FLR), which is served by European and domestic flights. The airport is conveniently located 5 km from the center of Florence and 10 km from Fiesole.  Taxis, rental cars and a shuttle service to the central train station (Santa Maria Novella) are available at the airport.

The next closest airport is in Pisa, the Galileo Galilei Airport (PSA), which is served by European and domestic flights.  From the Galileo Galilei Airport, Florence can be reached by train (50 minute journey), by Terra Vision bus (1.5 hr journey) or by car (1 hr journey).

International flights are available to Bologna G. Marconi Airport (BLQ). From Bologna Airport, Florence can be reached by a direct bus service Appennino Shuttle (90 minute journey), which runs every 2 hours to the central Florence train station; by high speed train from the Bologna Central train station to Florence Santa Maria Novella station (35 minute journey on Trenitalia/Italo); or by car (1 hr 15 minute journey). The BLQ Aerobus (20 minute journey) connects the Bologna airport to the Bologna Central train station.

International flights are also available to Rome Leonardo Da Vinci International Airport (FCO), which is approximately 1.5 hrs away by high speed train from the Rome Termini central train station (to Florence Santa Maria Novella), a 1hr flight on Alitalia or 3 hrs away by car.  A direct train service, the Leonardo Express (30 min journey) connects the Rome airport to the Rome Termini train station. In addition, international flights are available to Milan Malpensa Airport (MXP) Milan Malpensa is connected to the city center by a direct train service, the Malpensa Express (30 min journey). From central Milan, high speed trains (1hr 45 min journey) are available to Florence from the Milan Central or Porta Garibaldi train stations. The journey by car is approximately 3-3.5 hrs.


BY TRAIN

The main train station in Florence is Santa Maria Novella, which is 8 km from Fiesole. Taxis are available from the train station to Fiesole. The journey time is approximately 15 mins.


BY CAR

From the South: exit at Firenze Sud, and proceed along on the ring road (Via M. Polo) for about 3 Km. Once you reach the stop light, turn left along the Lungarno A. Moro and after about 500 m follow the signs on the right leading to Stadio/Fiesole, and then continue on to Fiesole.

From the North: exit at Firenze Nord and continue on the ring road to following the signs to the “Centro.” Then follow the signs to Stadio/Fiesole, and continue on to Fiesole.
